About this archive
Built by a collector, for collectors
The Messi Collector was created by an independent collector to document and study Lionel Messi cards. It exists for one reason: the early Spanish league cards — above all the Panini Megacracks issues of 2004 through 2021 — are among the most historically significant soccer cards ever produced, yet reliable, well-organized reference material about them is scattered and hard to verify.
This site approaches the subject the way a careful collector approaches a collection: thorough cataloguing, historical notes, rarity analysis, PSA population reporting, and a documented auction ledger. Nothing here is for sale, and nothing is published on guesswork — card numbers are cross-checked against published checklists, and population figures and sale prices appear only when verified documentation is supplied.
The first collection documented here is The Messi Megacracks Collector's Guide: 2004–2021, covering every documented Messi card from his seventeen Megacracks seasons. The archive is built to grow: further Messi card collections will be added as research is completed and verified.
Editorial standards
Verified or nothing
No card numbers, variations, population counts, or sale prices are invented. Unverified entries are labelled as pending.
Placeholder imagery
Card photographs are placeholders until image rights and permitted uses have been reviewed. No third-party card images are reproduced.
Named sources
Checklist findings cite the published checklists, dealer records, or grading records they were drawn from.
Education, not commerce
This is a historical and educational reference — not a marketplace, and not an official product website.
