Card stock & foil characteristics

The 2007–08 Mega Estrellas #387 features a distinctive metallic-looking design with red and dark background elements surrounding a full-length image of Lionel Messi in his FC Barcelona uniform. The front design differs substantially from the previous season's radiating foil pattern. Its reflective appearance makes surface condition an important area for further examination. Additional research is needed to document the card's physical stock, finish, thickness, and any recurring production variations.

Grading challenges & condition sensitivity

Collectors evaluating PSA 10 candidates should pay particular attention to surface scratches, print lines, corner sharpness, edge condition, and centering. The darker background areas may make certain surface imperfections more noticeable under angled lighting. These observations are general considerations based on the card's design. A broader examination of graded examples is needed to identify recurring manufacturing or condition issues.

Historical significance & release

Collector observation (owner's copy): the reverse text describes Lionel Messi as "El Nuevo Diego". Read together with the 2006-07 "El Nuevo Maradona" reverse, this appears to continue the comparison with Diego Maradona across both Mega Estrellas releases — this reading is the collector's interpretation, pending documentation of the full reverse text.

From My Collection — the collector's notes

The 2007–08 Messi Mega Estrellas #387 is an important early-career insert in the Panini Megacracks series. Featuring Messi in FC Barcelona's UNICEF-era uniform, the card captures a period when he was transitioning from an extraordinary young prospect into one of football's leading players. Its distinctive presentation makes it an especially attractive companion to the 2006–07 Mega Estrellas #386. Together, these two cards provide an opportunity to study the evolution of Panini's early Messi insert designs and the challenges of finding exceptional high-grade examples.
